The Queen Doesn't Cook #7

Last night I had a craving for a traditional dutch treat. I was too lazy to make it, so I made it today instead. Mark will be sad, because he is trying so hard to eat CORE. Since we got back from Hawaii I have been anti-CORE and have been eating whatever I want. Therefore, dutch cake is now cooling on my counter.

Rotti Kukus
5 eggs
2 c suger
2 t vanilla
2 c flour

1. Beat eggs, sugar and vanilla.
2. Add flour to mixture.
3. Line vegetable steamer (I use the one for my big spaghetti pot) with one layer of paper towels. (I usually have to layer 2, because my paper towels are not big enough.)
4. Boil water. (Don't fill it so high that it will touch the steamer.)
5. Pour batter into steamer, cover, and steam for 40 minutes.
6. "Pop" cake out of steamer, remove paper towels and let cool on a rack.
7. Cover tightly to store. (A large Ziplock bag works great.)

Papa says if your cake "cracks" at the top then you did everything perfectly. If not, then don't worry - it will still taste good. Enjoy warm with butter.

Cuddly Soft

As a mom, I didn't know I'd laugh so much!!! Cohen is so funny. He is my favorite person to hang out with (after Mark, of course). The newest comedic act is to take something soft, put it up to his face and in a high pitched voice say, "Ohhhhhhh, ohhhhhh..." Mark and I crack up! I thought maybe Cohen was a little weird for cuddling with anything and everything, but then I read this in one of my magazines: "Toddlers are entranced by sensory experiences; they love to feel soft bumpy textures of fabric, toys, clothing," (American Baby, Sept. 2008). Cohen's is right on track.

Miraculous Recovery

I'm cured! It was only a 24 hour bug. THANK GOODNESS!!! Mark laughed at me when he saw what I was wearing last night (I had three jackets on). However, I had no choice, because I was SO COLD. Have you ever had a flu when you couldn't get warm?? It's horrible. Anyway I'm better now and we're off to Hawaii. Bye.

Oh crap...

I'm sick. Usually this wouldn't be a problem, but today it is... We're leaving for Hawaii TOMORROW!! Here is why I am worried:

a) I still have to go to the Dollar Tree to buy Cohen a bunch of "airplane toys."
2) I need to patch my brand new pair of jeans that got a hole in the knee because I wasn't being careful.
D) The laundry needs to get done so I can pack.

All I want to do is go to bed.

I'm Glad I Watched the Debate

After months of being undecided, I'm finally leaning toward one side.

Hunger

In a couple of days I'll be wearing a swim suit 24/7 for a week. Therefore, I am back to eating CORE. It's not fun and I miss my fishy crackers. Mark is doing it too and tonight a couple of hours after dinner we both looked at each other and said, "I'M HUNGRY!" Don't get me wrong...on CORE we get to eat a lot of food. We just don't want to have to count the points for our comfort foods - ice cream, crackers, granola bars, etc. We're having a little pity party.
